Tour the Loft

C'mon upstairs and let's see what's up there.  This is looking down from the loft.  The fireplace still has on its draft cover, otherwise known as a plaid thrift store drapery panel.

Here's the living room as it looks when we first arrive at the cabin. We always cover up the furniture to keep
the bugs off the furniture.  Do you remember the earlier post of the photo of this view with the girls in their sleeping bags, the plywood floor...?

The king-sized bed is up in the loft looks all shabby chic and romantic inside the mosquito netting but there is a real practical purpose for covering it up--- to keep the flying insects off it when the cabin is not occupied.

Here's a peek into the loft bathroom;
the window looks out onto the driveway.

 The mirror was from Schenectady and the harp-towel holder above the commode is the top of the washstand sink. The washstand was our very first auction purchase at Farcher's Grove Auction in Union, NJ....attending the auction and treasure-hunting in general was an early marriage past time for us!  Tony coated the washstand in automotive clear coat and assembled the sink and plumbing.

Below:    The "Aunt Louise chest" at the edge of the loft and other end of the bed.   This chest used to live in the bedroom where Aunt Louise used to stay whenever she visited her niece Pearl at 1637 Ave B, Schenectady.  This chest is missing the top drawer;  it fell (well, probably flew) out while we were transporting it from Georgia to North Carolina.  On the highway.  In traffic.  How lucky we were it didn't fly into another vehicle.  We were notified about the problem by a passing driver who indicated we needed to look at the trailer.  We  pulled over  and made an attempt to see if we could find the missing drawer...but no luck..  maybe it disintegrated on contact.  We secured the remaining  drawers and continued on to the cabin.  We are just fortunate it didn't hit anyone or anything (that we know of).

The Japanese screen painting was a  gift from Nana and PopPop.  A mountainous scene of some smoky Asian mountains nonetheless deemed appropriate for a mountain cabin.

The sconce at the top of the stairs was salvaged from the Benihana Restaurant in Buckhead (Atlanta) which was being razed.  We managed to come out of there with quite a few treasures,  the archery bow on the wall in the basement also came from Benihana's.
 The top basket is another NJ treasure, and the bottom basket hamper was purchased in Asheville for a mere $15.  Perfect for a few extra blankets.

The bedside lamp is from the Grove Park Inn, Asheville (donated to Habitat Store, when the hotel underwent refurbishing, and where we purchased it for a steal)   The rocker is from Grandma's in
Schenectady.
The beautiful cherry/ash bedroom set was a find at North Fulton Community Charities in Roswell!  The headboard is the perfect height and just fits under the windows.

This window is like a picture frame for the gorgeous mountain view.
